How it works

Continuous Audio Capture

16kHz mono PCM recording with voice activity detection. Audio is chunked into 15-25 second segments using our Buffered-Segment Upload Pattern (BSUP).

Whisper Transcription

Each segment is sent to our self-hosted Whisper API. Audio is processed and immediately discarded — no recordings are ever stored.

Intent Classification

The accumulated transcript is analyzed for question intent across six categories. The AI selects the optimal response strategy for each type.

Streaming Response

A tailored response streams via SSE in real-time — STAR frameworks for behavioral, ThoughtFlow for coding, structured analysis for system design.

Built with Security and Privacy First

Interview Yen prioritizes your privacy. Audio is processed transiently, transcripts stay on-device, and all communication is encrypted.

Transient Audio Processing

Audio is captured, transcribed by our self-hosted Whisper API, and immediately discarded. No recordings are ever stored on our servers — not even temporarily.

Session-Only Transcripts

Your transcripts and AI responses exist only in your active app session. When you close the app, everything is cleared. We have zero server-side storage of interview content.

Encrypted Communications

All data in transit uses TLS/HTTPS encryption. Authentication is handled by AWS Cognito with industry-standard security. On-device credentials use iOS Keychain and Android Keystore.

Interview Yen is designed for practice and preparation. We strongly advise against using AI assistance during live interviews where it's prohibited by the hiring organization. Using AI tools without disclosure may violate the company's policies and result in disqualification.
